Bjorn Ulvaeus To Open Mamma Mia! Restaurant At The O2 In London !

ABBA’s Björn Ulvaeus has said “here we go again” to plans for a Mamma Mia! themed restaurant in London, after he ditched a failed bid to open it in Waterloo.

The Swedish songwriter and singer today revealed he intends to launch an immersive attraction — called Mamma Mia! The Party — at the O2 complex in Greenwich.

When it opens in “late spring” next year, up to 500 guests a night will dine on Mediterranean food in a mock Greek taverna while singers blast out ABBA songs around them and perform a “spin-off” story from the hit musical and movie Mamma Mia! At the end of the evening, tables will be cleared away to make way for a vast Seventies-style disco dance floor.

The announcement comes less than four months after the 73-year-old was forced to abandon his original plans to create the venue in Coin Street, close to the station that shares a name with one of ABBA’s biggest hits.

Residents had launched a spirited “No Thank You For The Music” campaign in opposition, claiming their lives would be blighted by rowdy ABBA fans emerging from the restaurant in the early hours.

Ulvaeus said today: “We have long admired the O2 and the huge entertainment success it has become under the ownership and management of AEG.

“We believe bringing Mamma Mia! The Party to the O2 will add to this already vibrant cultural destination and provide the perfect location for our exciting new show.”

John Langford, vice president and general manager of the O2, said: “To be hosting Mamma Mia! The Party at the O2 is a real honour. It perfectly complements the outstanding live performances, events and entertainment all available under our world-famous roof.”

The plan marks the latest commercial venture involving the music of ABBA, who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974. A sequel to the movie Mamma Mia! — Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again — opened last month and has taken roughly $350 million (£270 million) at the box office.

Opening in Spring 2019 - tickets go on sale in Autumn 2018.

Mamma Mia! The Party - New Restaurant Plans - Bjorn

Hit wins the Björn Ulvaeus billion empire

The successes of Björn Ulvaeus billion empire continue.

In June, his company, Pop House, Cirkus bought at Djurgården - now plans to buy this Abba member to build a house in London where "Mamma Mia the party" will be held.

"Five minutes from Waterloo station, we will build a house that will open sometime 2019. It's a great thing," says Björn Ulvaeus.

The year was 1972 when Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad started giving out their music. Two years later, the group formed the name ABBA, which became one of the world's most famous bands.

And the success of ABBA ended not only because the band was playing the tournament on the shelf - on the contrary. The musical "Mamma Mia" based on the group's songs has become a world success. Also the movie with the same name.

Soon, the second "Mamma Mia" film - a project Björn Ulvaeus will be involved in.

"I'm very involved when it comes to casting. Benny has been in the studio recently, and myself I will go to London and record. It's a kidding project, says Björn Ulvaeus.

Björn Ulvaeus involved in more "Mamma Mia" projects.

In addition to the fact that Björn Ulvaeus owns properties for almost SEK 20 million and had an acquisition income of 2.4 million in 2015, there are billions in Ulvaeus companies.

He owns 70 percent of Kopparnäset AB, which in turn has 24 companies - one of them is MM! The Party AB. And "Mamma Mia" has become a huge brand, where Björn Ulvaeus gets his delicious piece of succé cake worth a million.

"I can not say how much, but some of course comes," says Ulvaeus, and continues:

"It's exciting how the brand" Mamma Mia "has grown - with both the stage music and the movies. And now, "Mamma Mia! The Party" that goes for sold out houses in Stockholm, and I'm getting to London, says Björn Ulvaeus.

He tells us that there is currently a planning process in the South Bank of London about Mamma Mia! The Party. "

"We will build a house five minutes from Waterloo station where" Mamma Mia! The Party "opens sometime 2019. And it works that's how it works everywhere I can imagine - it's a great thing, says Björn Ulvaeus.

Ulvaeus about Circus: "Will be fun to put your teeth on"

But the former ABBA member also has big plans at home in Sweden. In June Ulvaeus bought company, Pop House, Circus on Djurgården.

"I just do the way I think it's great fun and this with Circus fits so well into Pop House, which also owns the ABBA Museum. So I'm looking forward to working with Cirkus content with other actors and that Pop House and I produce their own stuff. It will be a joke to put your teeth in it, "concludes Björn Ulvaeus.
