ABBA fans get more of Agnetha Fältskog next week, but this time on Nine not Seven.
Agnetha: ABBA and After will air at 8pm next Tuesday night.
Agnetha: ABBA & After, the intimate BBC documentary that goes behind the scenes of ABBA star Agnetha Fältskog’s singing career, makes its Australian television premiere on Tuesday, July 2, at 8.00pm on Channel Nine.
Agnetha Fältskog’s extraordinary career in music began when she was just 15. But two years later she was knocking The Beatles off the top of the Swedish pop charts with her own material.
This long-awaited documentary features exclusive access to Agnetha recording her comeback album, covers her post-ABBA years and revisits her time with the Swedish supergroup who conquered the world. It is an assessment and a celebration of Sweden’s favourite “girl with the golden hair”.
With behind-the-scenes access to the studio where she made her new album at the age of 63, Agnetha: ABBA & After enters the world of a reluctant star, the subject of ongoing tabloid speculation since she retreated from the stage post-Abba.
The documentary features interviews with her ABBA bandmates Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson; legendary lyricist Sir Tim Rice, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s longtime collaborator; the producers of her latest album, Peter Nordahl and Jörgen Elofsson; and legendary British radio disc jockey Tony Blackburn. It also records her first meeting with Take That’s Gary Barlow, who contributes a duet to the new album.
It will be followed by a repeat of Muriel’s Wedding at 9pm.
