Ring Ring - Deluxe Edition In October 2013

The next release in the ABBA Deluxe Edition series revisits ABBA’s début album, Ring Ring, originally issued in 1973. Featuring the very first ABBA recording, ‘People Need Love’, along with well-known tracks such as ‘He Is Your Brother’ and the groundbreaking title track, the original album has been expanded with no less than 13 bonus tracks, 4 of which are new to CD, plus a DVD of rare television material. Ring Ring Deluxe Edition will be released October 14, 2013.

The first disc in the 2-disc package is a CD, which features the original album plus 13 bonus tracks. The bonus selections seek to expand the view of the album by including not only various non-album single sides, but also the rare original versions of the album tracks ‘I Saw It In The Mirror’ and ‘I Am Just A Girl’, both of which were Björn and Benny productions for other artists.
The scope of ABBA’s early years is further expanded by bonus tracks such as the rare 1970 recording ‘There’s A Little Man’, featuring Agnetha on backing vocals, her first contribution to a recording written and produced by Björn and Benny; ‘Man vill ju leva lite dessemellan’, a 1972 hit single for Frida featuring backing vocals by her fellow ABBA members; ‘En hälsning till våra parkarrangörer’, an ultra-rare spoken-word promotion single from 1972 on which the four ABBA members talk up their 1973 tour of Sweden; ‘Hej gamle man!’, the 1970 hit recording that was the first to feature all four ABBA members; and the 1971 single ‘Välkommen till världen’ by Lill-Babs, written and produced by Benny and enhanced by prominent backing vocals by the four future ABBA members.
The DVD features rare television performances of ‘People Need Love’ and ‘Ring Ring’ from Swedish and Austrian TV, respectively, plus a 2012 report from Swedish television wherein Benny tells the story of the writing and recording of ‘Ring Ring’, the first song to feature the famous multi-layered ABBA sound. In the report, Benny goes in-depth on the group’s creative process, isolating the different tracks on the original multi-track tape.
The package also includes a 20-page illustrated booklet featuring an extensive essay on the making of the album.
Don’t miss out on this Deluxe Edition of Ring Ring – featuring Agnetha, Björn, Benny and Frida’s first steps towards international stardom!

Agnetha BBC Documentary On Australian TV

Airdate: Agnetha: ABBA and After

By David Knox on June 25, 2013

ABBA fans get more of Agnetha Fältskog next week, but this time on Nine not Seven.
Agnetha: ABBA and After will air at 8pm next Tuesday night.

Agnetha: ABBA & After, the intimate BBC documentary that goes behind the scenes of ABBA star Agnetha Fältskog’s singing career, makes its Australian television premiere on Tuesday, July 2, at 8.00pm on Channel Nine.
Agnetha Fältskog’s extraordinary career in music began when she was just 15. But two years later she was knocking The Beatles off the top of the Swedish pop charts with her own material.
This long-awaited documentary features exclusive access to Agnetha recording her comeback album, covers her post-ABBA years and revisits her time with the Swedish supergroup who conquered the world. It is an assessment and a celebration of Sweden’s favourite “girl with the golden hair”.
With behind-the-scenes access to the studio where she made her new album at the age of 63, Agnetha: ABBA & After enters the world of a reluctant star, the subject of ongoing tabloid speculation since she retreated from the stage post-Abba.
The documentary features interviews with her ABBA bandmates Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson; legendary lyricist Sir Tim Rice, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s longtime collaborator; the producers of her latest album, Peter Nordahl and Jörgen Elofsson; and legendary British radio disc jockey Tony Blackburn. It also records her first meeting with Take That’s Gary Barlow, who contributes a duet to the new album.

It will be followed by a repeat of Muriel’s Wedding at 9pm.

ABBA Tribute - Eurovision 2014

TRIBUTE TO… ABBA

The idea is to celebrate some of the most significant, influential and successful singers and bands in the world.
This celebration can be for various major anniversaries but also for a musical genre or a particular decade for example.
The first Eurovision tribute programme will be dedicated to Abba.
The aim is to honour singers and bands in a programme or event, driven by the European Broadcasting Union and its Member broadcasters in partnership with various record companies. In the case of this first tribute programme, the Steering Group has agreed to develop a top quality show that could include archive material, and some of the world's best singers on stage. The show will focus on 12 songs, with a mix of ranking and televoting.
A detailed format is under development and will be presented at various meetings during the course of 2013.
The programme will be produced in autumn 2014, celebrating Abba's career and the 40 years of their winning song “Waterloo” in 1974.
Members of the group are involved in developing the concept over the next few months and could make one or more appearances during the show.

Agnetha Faltskog - New Single Released 15th July 2013

Agnetha Fältskog has announced she will release her new single ‘Dance Your Pain Away on July 15th through Universal Records. It is the second single to be taken from her acclaimed new album ‘A’, which marked Agnetha’s triumphant return to music after almost a decade and her first original material for 25 years. Listen to the track here.
Upon its release in May, ‘A’ was welcomed with enthusiastic praise from critics who unanimously heralded it a return to form for one of the greatest voices in pop and from fans who instantly welcomed back an icon of music. Debuting at number two in Sweden and Switzerland, three in Australia, Germany and Norway and at number six in the UK, ‘A’ has already sold nearly 200,000 copies worldwide in its first two weeks and has been certified gold in Sweden.
‘A’ was recorded and produced by Grammy-nominated songwriter/producer Jorgen Elofsson and acclaimed producer/arranger Peter Nordahl. The album features 10 tracks, including first single ‘When You Really Loved Someone’, ‘I Should’ve Followed You Home’ – a duet with Gary Barlow – and ‘I Keep Them On The Floor Beside My Bed’, one of Agnetha first co-writes in many years: “I hadn’t written any music for a long, long time,” she says. “But I sat at the piano, and suddenly it was there.”
Along with the rollercoaster disco ride of ‘Dance Your Pain Away’, each track provides compelling evidence that the voice that soundtracked millions of lives is still capable of stopping you in your tracks, of causing your heart to miss a beat.
For the woman who started writing songs at the age of five, who first had a number one single when she was 18, and then went on to conquer the world with ABBA, the journey continues – at her own pace, and on her own terms.
